Christine DePetrillo wrote about 8 Things That Should AlwaysBe Hot. Since my brain is fried this week, I’m copying her idea. With a little difference.
Here’s my list of things I like cold:
Ice Cream Is that redundant? Mint Chocolate Chip. I used to live in the Mint City. Michigan State University Dairy Store’s Coconut Chocolate Almond. Now that is to die for. I wish we lived closer. Captain Sundae’s (a west Michigan favorite). Can’t wait until it opens for the season. Better than DQ.
Winter You’d think after the winter we’ve had this year, I’d be tired of snow (150” so far) and brutally cold temperatures. But there’s something about a day like yesterday when the sun shines and the snow sparkles.
Soda or Pop (depending on where you’re from) Lots of ice. Vernor’s Ginger Ale. Sweet, sharp, tingly, fizzies up your nose. Some people use it to baste a ham. That’s okay but warm Vernor’s? No way.
Coconut Cream Pie Baker’s Square. Too bad they left Michigan. Big Boy is second best.
Watermelon As kids, my siblings and I would sit outside on the picnic table bench and see how far we could spit the seeds.
Cold Therapy Unit After knee replacement. Pump circulates ice water through a pack velcro’d around the knee. Relief. Maybe I should try it on my back.
Frozen Strawberry Lemonade Sweet. Tart. Brain freeze but oh-so delicious.
Lake Michigan on a hot summer day. 'Nuff said.
Ice Skating Pond: Mom would flood a low spot in our backyard so my sister and I could skate. Better than an ice arena.
Hands Cold hands, warm heart. What do cold feet mean?
What do you like cold?
I blog here on the 8th and 30th of each month and Mondays on my own blogsite http://dianeburton.blogspot.com
Coffee. Cold in Summer, hot in Winter. As a Detroit girl, I loved seeing the Vernors. Sometimes, we would drink it warm. Anytime, anywhere.
Oh, Margo, you're making me think of many hot afternoon at the Penn State Creamery. Yum. No Big 10 (or is it 11, or 12??) rivalry intended, honest!
Hot coffee? Never. LOL The MSU Dairy Store has ice cream in all the Big 10 school colors. I wanted to try them, but the coconut won me over.
Yep, a cold, SUNNY winter day--walking in the woods with my dog.
Sunny being the operative word, right, Jannine? :)
I like the cold, but can do without the sun. (I'm a wannabe vampire). Gosh, you're making all those tasty Michigan treats sound yummy! I want coconut pie...now!
