How about Hot and Cold?

Oatmeal. You love it or you hate it. I don't really love it, but I've found that if I have my oatmeal, I don't have those pesky ::ahem:: digestive issues.

Summer has been problematic because who eats oatmeal in the summer? Hot oatmeal is fine in the winter, but the summer, when it's 90 degrees in the shade and the air feels like a damp sponge? I've substituted other fiber-rich things, but nothing beats oatmeal for me.

Enter Refrigerator Oatmeal. I'm going to give this a try. I found the recipe on the Interwebs and I think it's worth a shot. Here's what in it:

oats (not instant)
Greek yogurt
milk
chia seeds (a staple in my oatmeal)
half-pint mason jars with the white plastic twist-off lids (not the pop-off kind; image courtesy of Amazon)

Add everything to a mason jar; put on the lid and shake to combine. Add optional fruit and stir gently. Put in fridge overnight or up to 2 days.

Here's the first one I'm going to try:
1/4 cup oats
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup Greek yogurt
1 tsp chia
1/4 tsp vanilla (or some vanilla seeds)
1 tbsp raspberry preserves
sweetener (I use agave, about a tsp or 2)
1/3 cup raspberries

I will report back in when the weather is hot enough to try this.

Notice I'm talking about warmer weather. Maybe talking will make it so?

I put Greek yogurt on my hot oatmeal. I'll have to try your way. Sounds good. I'm a real coffe fiend. Iced coffe in Summer, hot in other seasons. Hope talking about warmer weather brings it. We need all the help we can get.

Who eats oatmeal every day, you ask? My husband. Bleck! Even in the summer. Double Bleck! IMO, not much you can do to improve it.

I can't imagine eating cold oatmeal. I'd have to rename it to oat cereal or something. Sounds like a great recipe though!

Sounds like a very healthy recipe, but not all that tasty. I like oatmeal, but only the cinnamon kind. :)
