Scorching Hot Cocoa

My mother makes hot cocoa that could cause third-degree burns. When I was a kid, I’d get really impatient waiting for it to cool enough to drink.

Now I realize that the only way to have hot cocoa is to have it HOT, HOT, HOT!

MoreThan Cocoa, Book Five in my Maple Leaf Series, was inspired by scorching hot cocoa. The heroine, Detective Rachel Lorensen, likes her cocoa on fire from her favorite bartender, Grady O’Donnell at The Clumsy Grasshopper, a Boston tavern. What’s even better is that she gets free hot cocoa forever from Grady because she saved his life once.

Another thing Rachel likes hot is the hero of More Than Cocoa, Harris Wilder. He’s made some mistakes, paid for them, and is now wondering what the next phase of his life will bring.

Maybe it’ll bring hot love.

Here’s the official back cover blurb for More Than Cocoa:

Detective Rachel Lorensen has played so many roles in her undercover work with the Boston Police Department that she’s not entirely sure who she is anymore. Taking down the bad guys satisfies her and she loves the thrill of solving difficult cases, but something is missing in her life. Something she thought she had once. Something she wouldn’t mind having again.

Former news anchor Harris Wilder just completed sixteen months in jail for making some bad decisions. Though his brother has offered him a place to crash, he is eager to get his life back on track, but ties to his former journalistic glory have all been cut. He’s facing a complete reinvention of himself and doesn’t know where to start. He’d thought life on the outside would be easier than prison life. Now he isn’t so sure.

When one steamy kiss mistakenly gets Harris involved in Rachel’s latest undercover case, the safety of seventeen missing women is on the line.

So is the mending of two broken hearts.

Chris

The book does sound scorching hot. My coffee/cocoa preference depends on the season. Does that mean I'm well rounded maybe? I hope so;-) Best of luck with your latest,Chris.

Sounds like a different kind of hero--gotta like that! Cocoa from scratch (cocoa, sugar, dash of vanilla, milk). Way better than the pre-made stuff!

Congrats on the release, Chris. I like cocoa hot enough to melt the marshmallows, which are a must in cocoa. Hope your sales are hot, too!

Best wishes on your new release, Chris. I like my coffee hot but not scorching. LOL I'm not fond of cocoa. Usually too sweet.
