Newly weds |
Today's topic is the word Amazing...because I've had some Amazing things happen lately. Amazing good and Amazing bad. It was one of those kind of vacations.
You might have heard in one place or another that FDW and I made it to our 50th wedding anniversary. Now, that is Amazing.

50 years of bliss |
Only 6% of us make it that far in marital bliss. (hmmm...bliss...yeah, some of that) We chose to take a two week driving vacation which amounted to well over 4,000 miles round trip. Here's a list of some of the Amazing things that happened on our adventure.
*Day one, I tripped and did a face plant on a cement sidewalk three hours into our vacation. I DID NOT break the bottle of wine I carried, but I did turn my upper lip into hamburger and broke a front tooth which had to be pulled. I have a temporary tooth (a flipper) until I get a permanent implant. It threw us three days late on the start of our trip.
*We left a trail of personal possessions as we went. At one place FDW left a shirt and a hat. At another I left shampoo, conditioner, and face cleanser. At another we left the toothbrush charger.

Colorado |
*Even after fifty years, FDW finds me wildly attractive when we're in a hotel (don't ask why, I'm not questioning it)
*Our big, anniversary dinner was paid for by a man at the next table who had the waitress keep it quiet until after he'd left. We never saw his face or have any idea why he did it.
|
The Eagles |
*Friends gifted us an Eagle's concert that takes its place in our concerts seen history as the best.
*We chose to go through the Rockies on the trip home. The Rockies are Amazing.
We had an Amazing time visiting with friends we made and loved during the nearly twenties years we lived in Minnesota. Life is good. Life is Amazing.

Happy, happy 50th to you and FDW, Brenda. That is amazing. Thanks for sharing your fun and not-so-fun moments, and your stunning photos! Hope your lip is well healed by now, but ouch!
A very happy 50th anniversary to you and your guy. 50 years is Amazing. Despite it being only 8%, I know 5 other couples who reached this milestone (our own Margo, for instance). We have 4 more years to go to join this auspicious group. Too bad your trip began so horribly. I hope you're feeling better. Your photos are amazing.
Welcome to the Club, guys! Congratulations. We went on a road trip last summer. Spent some time in the AMAZING Rocky Mountains AND actually saw the Eagles at Mile High Stadium when it first opened. Yeah AMAZING! Oh, and Ron did a face plant on cement the day before we left for our anniversary cruise this year, black eye, broken glasses and all. THEN I got the tooth infection one day in which set us back a couple of days and put me on penicillin, and off any wine et al for the duration of the trip. Also amazing you didn't break your bottle. Way to go. Think that about covers it. Anniversary Vacations ARE amazing. At least we all survived ours!! LOL
Thanks, Leah. It was another Amazing fact that my lip was totally healed before we saw the first friend in MN.
Diane, I think it's Amazing you know that many 50 year couples. Wow.
My gosh, Margo. I think we must be twins from different parents!
It sounds like you had a wonderful trip despite the mishaps. Next month we'll be at 23 years of wedded adventure. I refuse to say bliss, and adventure is more exciting than bliss, anyway. LOL We have a long way to go to 50! Great pics!
Three more years and we join this august, Amazing set of couples. Thank God you saved the wine, Brenda, for the hotel room, that is :-) That sparkling new tooth will remind you of the trip, always. Thanks for sharing the goods and bads and all the pretty pics!
Jannine, adventure describes it so much better!
Rolynn, I'm thinking with the baby boomers coming upon the 50 year mark in more numbers, we're going to raise that percentage by quite a bit.
What an amazing and memorable trip, Brenda! A fitting tribute to fifty colorful years.
Thank God you saved the wine. Congrats! Here's to 50 more
I agree, Alison
Ha! Thanks, RE.
OMG Brenda, what a fab trip and anniversary. Never doubt you are the luckiest among women. And the tooth will be sorted--but I wonder if you'll ever find out who paid for that meal!
Andrea, I think the only thing we can do is pay it back with other people. A couple of days later we way over tipped a young man at a restaurant we guessed to be a student. He went above and beyond.
Oh wow, I so enjoyed hearing about your trip. In spite of the rocky start, it sounds absolutely heavenly!!! Oh my gosh, the pics are beautiful. And, the Eagles, yes, indeed. I saw them years ago in OKC, (Gosh, I think it's been about 15 years now...doesn't seem like it, though) and it was one of the best concerts ever. If I hadn't seen Elvis in concert 3 times and hadn't seen Marty Robbins and Merle Haggard in the same concert, I might say the Eagles WAS the best. I was fortunate enough to see them while Glenn Frey was still alive, and he was phenomenal. I never had an anniversary trip. I didn't make it long enough. Wow, 50 years, I barely made it 12, LOL. I admire all of you that hung in there!
