Summertime…and the livin’ is…Well, You Decide – Part One by Margo Hoornstra

Some of you will remember the Gershwin song, Summertime from the musical Porgy and Bess. The opening line goes like this. Summertime…and the livin’ is…easy.

Brings to mind visions of tranquil days full of sunshine and fresh breezes. Lazy, hazy days to sit back, relax and soak in the quiet. Enjoy doing whatever we want, or nothing if that’s our choice.

In that spirit, we recently purchased a couple of Adirondack Chairs for the front yard.

And a glider swing to go with the rocker on the back deck.

Inviting, right? If only I could use them more.

If I may paraphrase the great Mr. G – in my world, it’s more like Summertime…and the livin’ is…busy! Not that I’m complaining, mind you. Oh no…

Here’s a taste of my current summer days, so far…

In June, my novella titled, For Money Or Love was released. It is one of six within the 99 cent box set, All In For Love

In July, I began promotion anew, (through Author Promo Pal aka Lacey Jewel, daughter of our own Alicia Dean) of my three novella anthology Saturday In Serendipity

Also in July, the final, final, final (fingers crossed) galley is now proofed, corrected, approved and returned to my editor, Ally Robertson of The Wild Rose Press for Book One in the four book series Brothers in BlueOn the Surface...

But, I’m not done yet…

Currently, I’m editing (and rewriting where necessary, Thanks, Jannine!) the first draft of Book Two of Brothers in BlueOn the Force

Oh, and, the Calla Lily I touted here last time on the 23rd. It’s actually blooming…

Yay!!!

That’s my summer so far…

How about you? How’s your summer shaping up?

My days to blog here are the 11th and 23rd. For more about me and my stories, please visit my WEBSITE

Congratulations on all the book activity, Margo. You sure are busy. And congrats on the lily's continued health! :-) You're taking Alison's advice (about writing keeping you young, a few days ago) to heart! Can't wait to read the Brothers in Blue books. :-)

Margo, you are a rock star! If I can get three novels out this year, I'll be a happy woman (since I didn't get ANY books out last year). As you know, we're traveling...just left Niagara Falls and on to Vermont today. A week in Vermont...then on to my brother's in West Virginia, followed by a family reunion in Maryland. And yesterday I started my free days. Nope, the summer ain't easy, but we definitely know we're alive and kickin' at this pace!

Thanks, Leah. Calla's tenacity is an inspiration! ;-) I sure didn't plan all of this activity, but there it is. Which, of course, has to be working in with all of the family activities. T-ball, girl's softball, reunions...

Alive and kickin' it is, Rolynn. May it always be so! I've never been to Niagara Falls - that's where the All In For Love casino is located. I'll have to go one of these years. Rock star? I don't know about that. Before this, I had a two year dry spell trying to sell that darned series. Enjoy your family reunion. We have one this weekend, but nearby.

I love the purple chairs and the cover for Brad. Sorry, but I can never think of your books by their actual title! LOL

I'm busy writing Book Three in the SIREN COVE series and dealing with edits on Book One. Book Two is finished and needs one final read-through before I turn it in.

Oh, and I'm still waiting for the new covers for my WILDE series. Promo will start in earnest (again) once those are finished!

Love the purple Aditindacks. I hope you get to use them Margo!

Great post!
Lovely pics and covers
My summer has been a tour of National Parks since June so it's busy but wonderful! I've shared some of the memories on my blog: http://pamswildroseblog.blogspot.com if anyone is interested.

Good luck and God's blessings

I love the rocker glider on your back deck. A good place for two love birds of a certain age to sit and talk and enjoy a glass of tea. I'm a hothouse weed. I prefer being inside in the air conditioning as I do my writing.

Love the new Wilde cover concept, Jannine. Yep, I agree, Brad's cover is very cool. Glad you like my purple chairs. On sale! I'm planning to get a couple more. Can't wait to get my claws into ... uh hands on Book Three. Hurry! LOL

All such beautiful covers! Look forward to reading the new series.

I'll make myself use the chairs, Andi. They are incribly comfortsblr! My husband used 'his' a lot!

That National Parks tour is what we have slated for next year, Pam. I'll check out your blog for info!

That's a catch 22 for me too, Vonnie. I prefer air to outdoors. The glider was a birthday/mother's day gift this year. Would you believe an impulse buy? It's comfortable too!

Margo Hoornstra said...

Thanks, Lucy. I'll work on getting the books done for you! ;/)

Oh my goodness. No easy summer for you, Margo. I do love your purple chairs!

Margo Hoornstra said...

Thanks, Brenda. Purple was my favorite. The other colors were red, brown and turquoise. Guess I'm making up for lost time. Last summer was kind of slow

What an amazing summer you're having, Margo. I'm excited for you that your dry spell is over. Congrats! As you all know, our Arizona family has moved in. The house seems so much smaller. The dogs are behaving better than expected. Toddler Girl is so enjoyable. Son and DIL are back at work. And my laptop has been to the Geek Squad twice since Thursday and going back today. My typing on an iPad is soooo slow. Good thing I hadn't planned to write much this summer.

Thanks, Diane. It does feel good. I sure can imagine the great summer you're having. This time for you is, as they say, priceless. Enjoy!

Margo Hoornstra said...

Kat - thank you, thank you. Literally. Couldn't not have done any of it without you! Well, except maybe my little Calla Lily;-) A lot of good things came out of those Serendipity aka Class books.

You are a busy bee! I spent June gearing up to lead a teen retreat, which happened this past weekend. Now I'm hoping to dive into the third book in my Devilish Divas Series, while I wait for book two to hit Amazon. In August we're going to spend some time in Bar Harbor. I'm looking forward to it as I've never been to that particular part of the country. Best wishes on all your endeavors, and here's hoping you'll squeeze in some Purple Chair Time, too!

You are one busy lady. Congratulations on all of the releases and releases to come, but do take a bit of time to enjoy the sunshine and sunsets.

Love the pics! The chairs DO look inviting. :) Sounds like your schedule is almost as busy as mine! :D Looking forward to book 2 in the series, and to seeing you in person!
