Two weeks ago a
blizzard charged through Michigan complete with white out conditions and icy roads.
Schools, government offices and some businesses were closed for two days as we
dug out from under over a foot of snow. Last week, almost point by point, we
repeated the winter weather horror. Today, the forecast is sunny and dry with a
high pushing sixty degrees.
What a difference
a week makes.
Okay, brief side note
here. Partly cloudy is how the forecast
is officially noted. But, I ask you. What’s the true difference between partly
cloudy and partly sunny? IMHO, someone, some where’s glass half full perception
of life.
However you look
at it, all that nasty ice and snow is melting fast. Which is fine with me. Let
me tell you, as an avid walker, a few puddles are so much easier to navigate
than a solid expanse of unforgiving ice. After way too many days pounding the
treadmill in my family room while watching DVR’d episodes of The Voice, I’ll be
outdoors this afternoon and loving it. Striding along the roadside as the sun
sparkles off growing streams of water as it splashes and gurgles to the drains.

Happy spring, Margo! I take partly sunny every time. :-) Here in southeastern Virginia, your blizzard conditions would have shut us down for about a week, maybe more. (Yeah, we're not really winter-hardy down here.) This past week has brought the 70s for us, almost 80! Enjoy your walks in the "partial" sun! :-)
Right back at you, Leah! Happy Spring! Partly sunny it is. Guess if we didn't have the bad weather we wouldn't appreciate the good. Seventies and eighties sound fabulous! Can't wait for ours. Of course, it gets much above that and I'm one to complain about the heat. ;-) Go figure!
I can "smell" Spring over here on Michigan's west coast. Even our grass is green...sort of. I feel so energized when the sun is shining. Can't wait to see if any of my spring bulbs are poking through the ground.
Sunshine AND mild temperatures today, Diane! There's some green growth poking through the ground around here too. There have even been a few robins around. Can't wait!

Just returned from Hawaii--what a shock--even though Virginia is relatively temperate. As to "partly cloudy," that's the weather prediction I always look for when doing a book signing. Not good for working outdoors--not too stormy to come out to my event! Thanks for an interesting post.

Oh happy sun. I left Seattle for CA for sunny days. My spirits and my writing soar with the sun. This temperate climate suits me...no air conditioning; I turn the heat on rarely. Solar panels give us enough electricity...we have our own septic tank. Heck, we can almost live off the grid. Yup, the sun's good here!
Hmmm, it's raining here. Supposed to turn to snow tonight. Our winter has sort of fizzled with the snowfall. The woods are a mess of streams running through snow patches. The snow still out there is "punchy" which means you punch through it in snow boots, but snow shoes don't work well with all the bare, soggy patches. We either need more winter or spring to take over. For drought fighting purposes, I'm voting for more winter for the rest of the month. You can have your spring!
Our magnolia tree is starting to bloom at the corner of our front porch. She always sings her Spring song first. Lovely post.

The little yellow flowers that are the first to peak out (don't know what they're called) have bloomed in my backyard. I also saw a robin yesterday. I know some people say they stay all winter, but it's the first one I've seen since last fall. But the most obvious sign of spring, Daylight Savings Time, hits this weekend!
I'm a strange one, but I prefer gloomy, cloudy and snowy rainy over sunny any day. Blech to Spring. :)
