A smorgasbord of travel

I confess, I'm not much of a traveler anymore. I enjoy my life so much at home that it's a chore to leave it.

But leave it we did this month. May 1 to May 7, 2100 miles in 7 days. I do all the driving, so it was a chore, especially since we stayed in one place for two of those days. But all in all, it was pleasant. Thank heavens for the interstate highway system! We visited family, saw some awesome museums, sampled some bourbon and had a good time.

Upcoming trip is May 12 to 17, and this one is without the DH. My sister and I are winging it to Charleston, SC, on a whim, just because it's on our bucket list(s). I didn't mean to have back-to-back road trips (the SC trip starts with a 5 hour drive to Kansas City), but we needed to visit the family out East and May was the best time to go, so ....

I know some of our regular posters here are seasoned, long-distance travelers, so my journeys may seem minor. But to be honest, I don't feel any need at all to see what's in another country or to visit a place (there are a couple of spots I want to visit, and I'll check those off my list soon).

No, I love a stay-cation where I can shut down my work computer and just do whatever the heck I feel like doing. That to me is heaven on earth. Maybe when I retire, travel might be appealing, but right now I'm happy to just have a few days off from the Paycheck World.

I did manage to finish another manuscript in between trips, which makes 2 finished books this year. I'll tackle another one when I come back, then I may take a break and do some marketing and publicity for a while. I have 6 finished mystery manuscripts that need to find a home, and it's time to do some pitching, I think. And I have 4 finished sci-fi manuscripts I'm not quite ready to pitch. I think I may take a break....and maybe plan my next trip. ☺

Sounds like a crazy trip! Glad you enjoyed yourself even if the pace was fast. There's definitely a lot to be said for staycations!

Forget the traveling, I'm exhausted reading your books thus far accomplished list. Stay-cations can turn out to be some of the best.
