#releaseday then, Release Day now

I've been published for about 10 years now. My first 5 books came out in 2007, and book #30 comes out next week.

Oh, I remember those first few releases. OMG, I was all over the Internet, talking about my book(s). It wasn't so much "buy me, buy me" but "I HAVE A PUBLISHED BOOK PEOPLE!" I posted excerpts, I did interviews, I was everywhere I could find a spot to talk about my books.

Back then, books came out in e-format then came out in print later. Most people (back then) pooh-poohed ebooks. "When does the real book come out?" I'd be asked. I had an ebook reader long before the Kindle came out (anybody remember the Rocket Ebook Reader?) I knew that ebooks were the wave of the future. I adored being in electronic as well as "real" print, no matter what people say.

Today -- it's a different story. I do some online interviews, I do post excerpts here and there, and mainly I announce, "Hey, guys: another great book by me." It's not that I've lost the sense of wonder that I HAVE A PUBLISHED BOOK. That wonder never goes away. But I'm aware that there are a lot of people out there shouting about their books, and this is a marathon, not a sprint. I'll be talking about this book for a long time to come, so I can save the shouting.

Okay, here's a bit of shouting: BOOK #30 comes out NEXT WEEK! You can read all about it on my book page right here. This is another Remembered Classics book, in which I take a tale you well remember (Peter Pan, in this case) and I rework the characters. This book stars Wendy, T. K. Bell, and, of course, Peter.

Yeah, it's still fun to shout  ☺

Congratulations, JL. Sounds like a fantastic story! (And I think you're wise to limit the "shouting" while you keep on pumping out the books.)

Awesome, JL! Congrats on the latest. I have a new book out next week, and I'll admit my shouting has toned down some, as well. People tune out if you say it too often. Putting a twist on these old stories is a terrific idea!

Congratulations. I love this book and I adore the series idea. So unique and fun! I'm honored to have been involved in many of those 30 books. (How many have we worked on together? I'll have to check that out.) You're doing it right, steady and quality work.

So proud of you, JL. 30 books since 2007 is astonishing. I want to know...is it quieter in your head once characters in 30 books have marched out of your brain. (remember, I'm one of those with no stories dancing in my head). Or is it like the feeding of the fishes...the ideas multiply? I love your updated classic idea...Wendy, Peter and the bunch deserve to play in the contemporary world!

Congrats on your new release, JL. You're so right--getting the word out is definitely a marathon rather than a sprint.

Thirty books is nae small accomplishment. Ye should be proud. (Can you tell I'm in the middle of writing sottish bear shifters right now?) I emailed my son and some Scottish slipped in. He responded asking me what the heck was wrong with me. We do get involved in our stories which is why a little shouting is never bad. Good for you!

Congrats, J.L. 30 books! I'm so impressed. That wondrous feeling of accomplishment/pride never goes away, does it? We can't get blase about a new book. If we did, it would show in what we do. I like your comparison of a marathon for marketing, too. Every little bit we do helps. Enjoy!
