I’m sick of this political cycle by Barbara Edwards

Thank goodness the election is tomorrow.
Being an avid follower of politicals I have overdosed. Yep.
I’m sick of this political cycle.
I remember when the campaign for president started at the convention in July. Representatives from each state fought for the person of their choice on the convention floor. It was noisy, nasty and quick.
Now the cycle is dragging on for almost two years and I fear it will extend even longer in the next cycle.
The funny part is the public didn’t learn anything new about the candidates until the last few months.
I’m not only sick of the politics, I’ve become disenchanted with the media. I use several media venues and can’t believe I’ve learned not to trust any of them.
A sad commentary on the condition of our country.
I am waiting with my fingers crossed. I hope my candidate wins. I hope all the promises are kept.
I voted early.
I hope each of you exercises your right to vote.
Remember the upcoming holiday of Veterans Day is for those who fought for our right to vote in a free society.

So true, Barb. Your sentiments echo mine. Losing faith in our so called free press was the saddest result of all this for me. One thing we tend to forget is good, bad or otherwise we are all in this together.

Hi Margo,
I was thinking of using the theme of togetherness for my next blog. The perfect example is Thanksgiving. Two different cultures sharing a time of peace and thanks.
Hope you voted.

It's a sad time for our nation and the depth of it actually depresses me often. I really have to tune it out to keep my sanity. I wonder if as a people as a whole we're all depressed. I don't know why we would treat each other so pitifully otherwise. Yes, let it pass and find a way to heal.

The long lines at voting booths and the thousands of voters who have registered this year give me new hope. A democracy depends on LOTS of people exercising their right to vote...and once the will of the majority is known...supporting the new government. That's where I'm crossing my fingers. Since the Gore V Bush brouhaha, that's been a problem (esp. regarding Congress)...getting behind the new president. If we can't show pride in our democracy, other countries rightly wonder why we 'sell' it so vociferously.

Not a lot of political commercials in CA since it isn't a battleground state. However, we get TV channels from Reno, and NV is awash in nastiness. Ugh. I'm holding off until the day after elections, and if at that point the people spouting hate don't shut up on FaceBook, I'm unfriending them all. People need to accept and move on and hope for the best instead of expecting the worst and whining about it! I'm ready for sweetness and light and kitty pictures again.

All of you are echoing my sentiments. Apparently, Michigan has become a battleground state. Who would've thought that? Some of the non-presidential ads are so nasty, vicious even. The presidential ones are bad, too. I've been watching a lot of movies lately so I don't have to watch the ads.

EXCELLENT POST, BARB!!! I keep saying if these two are the best, the brightest, and the most upstanding our country has to offer, we're in big trouble. As for the news media, it's entertainment, not news. I find it all offensive as if we're all stupid enough to swallow their gunk.

Well, I guess y'all can repeat these comments tomorrow on my post! LOL. I just put up a meme on FB that says, "I feel like Trump and Clinton are two divorced parents fighting for custody of us. and we just wanna go live with Grandma."

What is that old quote? 'This too shall pass." Tomorrowis alwaysa better day.

Hi Roslynn,
I know I want a country like in the history books. Maybe that's why they stopped teaching history in the schools. People knew what was better.

Hi Jannine,
I unfriended a bunch already. I was taught manners and hate the nasty comments.

Hi Diane,
I've been searching the movie channels, too. Found a bunch of oldies, but goodies.

Great post, Barb. I think pretty much everyone is sick of this mess! I was looking at a website today of a foreign embassy (research, research, research), and the Twitter feed on the side was all about how they can't believe the American democracy has devolved to its present state.

I'll have to look up your Facebook post, Andi!
