Whimsical and wacky ... I've got that down pat

I love toys. Not the big expensive kind that kids play with nowadays, but the "ooh. Look at that. It's only $1.99. I think I'll buy it" kind of toy.

It's not just toys. It's anything that tickles my fancy. I have wacky things in my garden (the stork made out of silverware and hardware, the ceramic pig, the giggling pig lying on his back, the sneaker that's a planter). I'd have more but I have a husband and he's not into whimsical or wacky.

I like them because they make me smile when I see them. I mean, who wouldn't go "hmm" (or om?) when they see this?

Or this? I love having that remind me that it's probably cocktail hour somewhere. I have a coaster that shows a woman with a martini glass and the caption is: "I like a drink every now and then, and the last I checked, it was now."

I know how she feels!

I have enough stress in my life with a full-time job, an almost full-time career as a novelist (30 books in 7 years, you do the math), and a very full social schedule. I like looking around me and seeing my stress busters.

And if they're wacky, well, hey -- wacky is in the eye of the beholder!

Girlfriend, at the pace you're living, you need--no, you deserve--wacky. Love your whimsical items.

I like your style JL. I had a sign hanging in my kitchen: Help Wanted - Everyone in This House Qualifies. No one but me appreciated it, though. LOL Nothing wrong with wacky and whimsical!

Why not enjoy yourself now and then, too? My sign is, "So it's not home sweet home, adjust" My niece got a kick out of it anyway.

JL, I am so with you! When I retired from the day job, I decided to give full rein to my whimsical side, and it's really been fun.

I have a tee shirt with a picture of a martini glass (with olive) that says Nana's sippy cup. I get a ton of comments when I wear it.
