New Release Coming

The fourth book and climatic ending of the Blautsauger's of Amber Heights Series is coming out soon. To lead up to the actual release date (still to be determined) I thought I'd start by sharing a few teasers. 


Dr. Michaela Blautsauger, a Nosferatu vampire, is considered an expert in her field of work. However, her skills when it comes to dealing with others and showing emotion is almost non-existent. When Detective Seth Whitehead barges into her lab, she discovers the human is just as interesting as the blood formula she is working on.
Seth's tenacity to find who is committing crimes in Amber Heights pits him against vampire aristocracy as well as Toltec vamps who are nasty to say the least. When the she-vamp he is falling heart over fangs for leaves the country to find the blood plant she needs, he follows and discovers his cold hearted vamp truly has a heart.

When they both fall into Toltec hands, Seth knows he will do anything he has to do to keep Michaela from suffering harm. But will he be able to keep his own life in the process?

 The 4th book and exciting conclusion to The Blautsaugers of Amber Heights series is in the hands of my editor. We are tentatively planning on a summer or fall release. 

Cold-Hearted Vampire features the eldest daughter, Dr. Blautsauger, and Michaela might well be the most misunderstood member of the family. She was born during an age when girls were considered their father's property until marriage. After that they were legally designated as their husband's chattel. No wonder she chafed against such restrictions. Even as a young she-vamp, she realizes her only way out is to never marry. To make sure her independence is complete she also knows she has to find a way to earn her own income.

Almost three hundred years later, her kick-ass and take names attitude hasn't changed. Against her father's wishes she's still unmarried and has earned her medical decree. For the last fifty plus years she's worked as a physician and scientist. Her most cherished desire is to formulate the perfect synthetic blood. One which will release vampires from their dependence on humans. 

Unfortunately, she hit a snag while attempting to reach her goal. She needs an artificial molecule. A liposome base sturdy enough to transport all the necessary nutrients throughout the circulatory system. Plant fructans might be the answer and provide a workable foundation. If she can only find the right plant.

At that exact moment she hears about a rare plant
that might be just perfect but there's a problem. The 
ch'ich pak' or blood plant only grows near a sacred 
cenote in the Yucatan jungle which is deep within the 
belly of enemy territory. And the Toltecs would love 
to get their hands on a Nosferatu. Especially a Blautsauger. 
She goes anyway, even knowing she might be walking 
into a trap.

Human Detective Seth Whitehead has had his suspicions 
about the Blautsauger family. In particular the coldly aloof 
but enticing Dr. Michaela Blautsauger. Even as he finds 
himself drawn to her, he knows she is hiding secrets. 
Knowledge that might help him apprehend the serial 
killer he's been hunting. 

Following her to Mexico turns into a race against time. 
As they swim in the cool waters of the cenote and accept 
their intense attraction. Seth knows danger is looming. 
The Toltecs know she is there and they are hunting for 
her. If he can't get her out of the jungle before the 
Toltecs find them it will be certain death for both 
of them.

supernatural secret from the world. Rafe

Blautsauger fights his attraction to the human

woman but forces conspire against them.

 The third installment is A VAMPIRE TO
BE RECKONED WITH. Metta Blautsauger
has been fighting pre-conceived notions all
her life. Her family considers her to be a
ditz. The rest of the vampire community
believes she's a good-natured simpleton.

In reality she used to be an agent with
Orcus, a shadow vampire organization.
She returned home after an operation
gone went sour but she hasn't been idle.
Unbeknownst to all but a small group
of human ministers, she's gone rogue. 
She's hunting human traffickers without 
official Orcus sanction even knowing 
the penalty is a stake through her heart.

Lucas O'Cuinn, her former trainer and love,
has been sent to reel her in. He's headed
her way but with an agenda all his own.

HISTORY WITH A SIDE OF ICE CREAM

                                 Ice Cream with a history lesson topping.   

The summer sun is pounding down. Heat is shimmering off asphalt that's so soft the tar sticks to the bottom of your shoes. Add four hot, sweaty, and cranky kids to the mix. 

What are the parents to do but toss them in the car and head to Dairy Queen. The other three kids in the back of the station wagon, and me in the front between Mom and Dad. I got the best spot, this coveted spot, away from the pointy elbows of my siblings because I got car sick. Wink. Wink. 

This is where we learned the fine art of dealing with brain freeze as we gobbling down ice cream before it melted into a sticky mess.

To keep the air circulating in the non-air conditioned car, Dad would drive us around town. There were two places we always wanted to see. One was 'The Castle' overlooking Shoal Creek

 and the other was Bonnie & Clyde's hideout. 

Though my parents were quite young (7 & 9) when the Barrow gang came to town, they certainly remembered hearing all about the ruckus. These ice cream and history afternoons began my fascination with Bonnie & Clyde

In April of 1933 the infamous outlaw lovers, along with other gang members: Clyde's brother, Buck, his wife Blanche, and William Daniel Jones, rented an apartment over a garage in Joplin, MO. Their plan was to use the place as a hideout after a series of robberies in the area. 

It wasn't too long until their furtive behavior aroused suspicions in the neighborhood and the local police were called. The cops,  suspecting bootleggers had taken over the apartment, were surprised to find the Barrow gang. A shootout ensued with the Barrow gang narrowly escaping. They left Police Detective Harry McGinnis dead and Newton Country Constable Wes Harryman fatally wounded.

Because the gang fled in such a hurry, they left behind many personal items. Though a large arsenal of weapons was confiscated, a camera may have been the most important and significant find. After the film was developed and released, the public got their first, intimate look at the couple.

These pictures thrust the outlaws into  national focus and fame.

Bonnie reputedly hated the picture of her smoking a cigar and was offended when newspapers dubbed her a 'Cigar Smoking Gun Moll.' It is said she regretted the gag picture so much, she once requested a hostage inform the press she didn't smoke cigars. 

The apartment survived the massive tornado that destroyed much of Joplin in 2011. Though it has been well preserved it is not open to the public.
