New Kindle World Release by Donna Michaels

Hi, it's Donna Michaels and I'm excited to have another cowboy release in my Harland County series, but this time he's a Sable Hunter Hell Yeah Kindle World crossover!

It was such an honor to be asked by Sable to participate in her Kindle World and to be one of the launch authors! Creating another branch of my McCall tree to mingle with her McCoys was the icing on the cake! Her Hell Yeah Cowboy hit #1 in Western Kindle last week and currently sits at #3, plus it's at #2 in Western Kindle Worlds. :-) Thank you all for making it a best seller! And big hugs to those who've left reviews! <3

Years ago, he unknowingly rescued his soulmate, now she’s back in Texas and about to save his guarded heart.

Blurb:

Unlike his twin, Texas National Guardsman Sgt. Logan McCall would rather march barefoot and blindfolded through a cow pasture than date the same woman twice. After an active duty injury during a flood washed away his promising sports career and engagement years ago, Logan guards his heart more than his life until, fresh from deployment, he runs into a friend of the McCoys…literally. Hill Country’s newest resident is hotter than the wing sauce soaking into his shirt.

Mission on.

Graphic designer and carrier of misfortune, Chloe Davis is a danger to herself and those around her, so entertaining thoughts for the sexy cowboy wearing her hot sauce should be a no-no…not a hell yeah—especially considering he’s the guardsman linked to a horrible instance in her past. But when he turns out to be one of her clients, she can no more avoid him than the attraction sizzling between them. Chloe’s back in Texas determined to make a fresh start, and she succeeds in business but fails to resist the handsome soldier’s relentless pursuit.

But when he discovers her past, will he trust his heart or lose her forever?

Excerpt
“I’d like to know what kind of read you were getting from my brother that was so interesting, Cady.”
Ah, hell.
Logan swallowed his drink along with a few curses. He’d rather not know.
Her calm, steady, perceptive gaze settled over him again. “Today’s the day.”
Super. Whatever. He wasn’t biting. Just raised his glass and enjoyed another mouthful of beer. The ale was ice cold with just the right amount of malted barley and hint of bitter. Damn, it was good to be back in the states.
“The day for what?” Lincoln frowned. “What’s going to happen to Logan today?”
“With any luck, I’ll finally make it to my ranch. That’s what.” It was all he wanted. All he’d wanted for fucking months now.
“He’s going to meet up with his soulmate again,” she replied as if he hadn’t spoken.
It took a full twenty seconds before any of that sunk into Logan’s head. The word soulmate bounced around a few times, barely leaving room for the again part. He had a soulmate? Well, shit. That wasn’t good. Not the reading he expected. Or wanted to hear.
Besides, if he had a soulmate, and they’d supposedly already met, wouldn’t he have remembered her?
It didn’t matter.
No way was he going to touch that topic, especially since his family had a history with soulmates. His cousin Cole McCall reunited with his soulmate Jordan after over a decade apart. The two had been through hell but were now married and living a happily-ever-after they deserved down by the gulf in Harland County. The couple had this crazy connection you didn’t need your eyes to see.
Weird shit.
Not something Logan wanted or ever pursued for himself since his failed engagement back when he gave a damn about relationships. Now he stuck with casual hookups. Nothing serious. It was cleaner. Easier. Safer. Believing in someone, trusting someone, only to have them crush you wasn’t worth the risk. He’d learned the hard way. Didn’t need to be beat over the head with it. Casual or not at all was his motto. The last thing he wanted was a soulmate.
The thing was, he believed in Cady and her abilities. So he did what any man in his position would do. He topped off his beer and enjoyed another healthy pull.
“Did you say soulmate?” Lincoln blinked at Cady, and when she nodded, his brother turned a shit-eating grin his way. “This I’ve got to see.”
Joseph smiled. “Me, too.”
Logan laughed. “Hate to disappoint you all, but look around.” He made a sweeping motion with his hand. “The place is practically empty, and the only woman here is Cady. Not a soulmate in sight.”
“She has big brown eyes that are going to melt that guarded heart of yours, Logan McCall,” Cady remarked leaning closer. “She’s near. Can’t you feel it?”
Feel it? What he was feeling was agitated. On edge. Restless. He had for some time now. But today he could add aggravated to that list. Cady’s dark, direct, Creole gaze, and the guys’ amused ones weren’t helping. Logan set his glass down and rose to his feet. “What I feel is the need to use the bathroom. Excuse me.”
The more distance he put between himself and the two chuckleheads at the table, the better he felt. And Logan was sure, once he was home, the weird restlessness—like he had unfinished business—would disappear. Hell, he just got off deployment. It was common to come back with baggage. This shit was normal. He’d deal with it.
What wasn’t normal was for him to run away. He didn’t really need to use the bathroom, but the urge to leave the table had been too strong to ignore. Cady knew. He could see it in her eyes and slight tug to her lips, but bless her, she didn’t call him out on it, just let him go without a word. Not only had his buddy married a smart, beautiful woman, she was sweet, too.
Going on the assumption the john was in the same place as before, Logan rounded the bar and—smacked into someone rushing down the corridor, all soft and curvy.
And hot?
He felt the heat right through his T-shirt. It scorched.
Inhaling on impact, he reached out to steady the distinctly feminine form, his mind registering a light, flowery scent, mixed with the mouthwatering aroma of…chicken wings?
“I’m so sorry. Are you okay? Did I burn you?” Her breathless voice had a sweet huskiness that spread awareness all the way down his spine.
What the hell?
He shook his head to clear it. “I’m fine,” he replied, staring at the mass of wavy brown hair obscuring the woman’s face as she tried to brush off the sauce that leaked onto him from the Styrofoam container she cradled in one hand.
“I’ve ruined your shirt.” She continued to try to clean him up but only made it worse. A second later, her palm stilled on his chest, and she drew her lower lip between her teeth.
“I’m fine,” he repeated, silently willing her to look at him.
With the initial shock of the collision wearing off, he realized the merit of the situation. Pressed against him was a soft, warm woman with an abundance of curves his body immediately wanted to get to know better. A little taller than average, she brushed his bottom lip with the top of her head, her riot of hair sticking to the chin he hadn’t shaved in two days. Logan wondered how their other body parts lined up, but most important, he wondered…what color eyes she had.

Pinch me, I must be dreaming...by Donna Michaels

It’s been a remarkable year, so far, and it’s only half over. When I sit and think about all that has taken place the past few months, I can’t help but wonder if I am dreaming.

I barely recovered from hitting the NY Times and USA Today Bestsellers list back in January, (Who am I kidding? That still hasn’t sunk in. It’s just too surreal), then Kathryn Falk personally contacts me to invite me to RT last month—I just…wow. And I got to go up on stage at the welcome party in front of the whole 2k plus contingent with my 11 wonderful cowboy author cohorts to announce the new 12-Alarm Cowboy boxed set spearheaded by Kathryn. As if that wasn’t amazing enough, I got to meet my idol, Jill Shalvis several times, again…just…wow. AmazonEncore Publishing bought one of my books and actually gave me an advance. I’d never received one before. You can bet I copied the check and framed that sucker!!
Next month, I’m receiving 2 awards for HER UNIFORM COWBOY at the Author/Reader CON in New Orleans. (Still in shock, maybe pinch me again…) AND two weeks ago, I learned I have another cowboy up for a possible award this September. HER FOREVER COWBOY just finaled in InD’tale Magazine’s 2015 R.O.N.E Awards for Best Contemporary Cops, Jocks and Cowboys!

Please don’t think I’m writing this post to boast. Absolutely not. I’m writing it to THANK all of those responsible. Don’t think for one second I assume all of that wonderful stuff happened because of me. Nope. It all happened because I have the most amazing, terrific, loyal readers, and the best, fabulous author friends in the world! Thank you all from the bottom of my fluttering heart! <3

The book I have with AmazonEncore is on sale right now for $1.99!

That new 12-Alarm Cowboy boxed set I mentioned is up for Pre-Order and only .99cents! Now’s a great time to get 12 hot, cowboy firefighters before the price goes up when it releases on August 4th. My contribution HER VOLUNTEER COWBOY is the 6 th book in my Harland County Series, and I won’t be releasing it as a single until September. This is a good way to get your copy, along with 11other smokin’ hot cowboys, and all for only .99cents!
Amazon
Barnes & Noble (Nook)
Kobo
iBooks

And I just had a New Release three weeks ago. HER HEALING COWBOY, Book 5 in my Harland County Series is now available in eBook and Print, and has garnered 16 Five Star reviews and 3 Four Stars. A big thank you to all who took the time to leave such wonderful reviews. <3
Holly’s stay in Harland County Texas is limited. She’s only there to help run her uncle’s ice cream business while he recuperates from an operation. Her home is in Colorado. Her life is in Denver. Her dream job is in Denver but won’t be if she doesn’t get back before her leave of absence runs out. Everybody knows this, but apparently her heart and body didn’t get the memo because they spark to life whenever her uncle’s smoking, hot doctor is around. But she’s been burned by one before and is definitely not interested. Much.
Doctor Jace Turner has one goal: Join Doctors Without Borders. Ever since his father was in a car accident and became HIV Positive from a blood transfusion, Jace set his sights on the organization and plans to join, once his contract is up with the Texas National Guard. The last thing he needs is the crazy attraction he feels toward the beauty from Colorado.
The cowboy isn’t looking for a relationship. She isn’t staying. Perfect set up for a fling. What harm could there be?

 As always, thanks for reading,

~Donna

I met my Idol at #RT2015 by Donna Michaels

Howdy!
This has certainly been a great year for me. First, I make the NY Times and USA Today Bestsellers lists in January, and now, I can cross meeting my idol, Jill Shalvis off my bucket list!

I even had the presence of mind to form a coherent sentence, and she was gracious enough to allow me to get a picture taken with her.

And I even took a break yesterday and walked over to Dealey Plaza where JFK was killed. It was a beautiful, peaceful area, and a bit surreal standing on the sidewalk and staring at the X in the middle of the street where he had been killed. Here is a photo I took from near the grassy knoll, complete with another tourist checking out the area.

The week has been a whirlwind of fun and networking. I got to host a fun Cover Model party on Tuesday night, a fun Steampunk party on Thursday night, several wonderful panels, and the best, was on Wednesday, at the Welcome Party, where I was on stage representing the Cowboy 12-Pack with Randi, Becky, Lexi, Paige, Beth, Elle, and Cynthia, where we announced that we have embarked on another boxed set, spearheaded by Katherine Falk. It's called 12 Alarm Cowboys! A boxed set of cowboy firefighters from Texas!!
 Releasing August 4th!

Pre Order for 99 cents!

The First Cowboy to Fall by Donna Michaels

Happy November, everyone! Using this month’s theme topics, my post about my upcoming Christmas release (available for preorder) could actually ‘fall’ into a few of the categories.

Fall into Winter:
HARLAND COUNTY CHRISTMAS takes place from the end of August to December, spanning through fall into winter.
Blurb
Accounting major Jen has one more year to earn her Masters before she graduates and moves out of Harland County to find a corporate job and maybe a good-looking businessman to boot. Cowboys were handsome and fun, but they didn’t stick. Neither did ranch hands. Experience has taught her they come and go, and some took a piece of her heart with them. Well, no more handsome, sexy, cowboys. She wanted a stay around, stable, lifetime type of guy.
Then she returns to the family ranch after a ‘hurrah to summer’ weekend with friends to discover Brock, the hot, one-night stand she’d given herself permission to enjoy, is the new ranch hand. And dang it, she’s just as drawn to his sexy grin, gorgeous green eyes and quiet strength. As the summer ends, classes resume, and the holidays near, the handsome, alpha cowboy has her rethinking her future. So does the unborn baby she’s carrying. Maybe sticking around Harland County isn’t so bad—if she could get Brock to stay, and break out of the ‘leave Jen and move on to another ranch’ mold.

Fall Overboard:
Set in Texas, this novella has my hero Brock Kincaid falling ‘overboard’ into a sea of debt his grandmother incurred from his late brother’s illness.  He did not plan to fall ‘over-his-head’ in love with the heroine. But, that’s just how I like to roll.

After the Delaneys left, he helped Jen carry the tea and glasses into the house and had to fight the urge to touch the woman. She’d been beautiful, and sweet, and caring, and he just wanted to soak it all in. Jennifer Dalton was a breath of fresh air he hadn’t realized he’d desperately needed.
He set the glasses in the sink and turned to find her watching him by the center island, appreciation swimming in her eyes.
“Thank you.”
He reeled back. “For what?”
“For being so nice to the Delaneys.” She set the pitcher on the butcher block counter and smiled. “Some people have trouble.”
“I know,” he agreed, completely floored by her insight. “I had a younger brother with special needs, and believe me, I’m well aware of the narrow-mindedness of the human race.”
Frowning, she stepped close to touch his arm, her fingers warm, and soft, and reassuring. “Where people mean?”
“Some were downright rude, others were very nice. Like you.” He cupped her face and stared into her fathomless eyes. Those gorgeous, sapphire eyes. “Cody would’ve liked you.”
Smiling, tears spilled down her face. “I’m glad.”
His heart cracked open. He was falling. Sunk. So far over the damn edge he couldn’t find a foothold. Pulling her close, he brought his mouth down on hers, tasting and drinking in her sweet essence. This is what he’d needed. This was what had haunted him for weeks now. Her hot, sweet taste, bold tongue, warm curves. She moaned and burrowed closer, slipping her hands under his shirt, touching, stroking him everywhere as he returned the favor.

Fall from Grace:
My heroine Jen Dalton never intended to fall from grace but her anxiety over her deployed cousin, raised as her brother, coupled with a margarita or three, add in a sexy, kind, concerned stranger, and they equal her first ever one-night stand.

Jen’s insides twisted into a tight knot at the mention of her cousin. He grew up at Shadow Rock, and was more like a brother than cousin. She loved Kade just as much as Kevin, and now he was in harm’s way.
Again.
The horse-whisperer had joined the Texas Army National Guard before he’d graduated high school, and eleven years later, he was still in. This was his third deployment, and with each one, she worried more, slept less, and admittedly wasn’t handling this one well. Always glued to the TV for updates. Days.
Nights.
Registering for classes had even been tough, especially with the mention of casualties in battle on the news. How the heck was she supposed to concentrate after hearing that? She’d managed, barely, then allowed her roommate and friends to persuade her to join them for a much needed ‘summer hurrah’ last weekend.  But, even at the laidback gulf resort, her gaze had been glued to the TV above the outdoor bar.
Until he sat down next to her.
Not her type. Hair a little darker than Sonny’s, smoldering green eyes, strong jaw covered in five-o’clock shadow, which were all actually pretty great, really great. The guy was gorgeous. It was the T-shirt, Levis and Stetson she didn’t like. He was a cowboy.
She swore off cowboys. And ranch hands. And any guy with anything to do with the rodeo circuit.
Especially clowns.  No clowns. They were just…wrong.
But he wasn’t. No. The stranger was a little bit of all right, and by morning, he was no longer a stranger. About the only thing they hadn’t shared were names. He’d called her sapphire and she’d called him cowboy, but once they’d gotten a room, they hadn’t done much talking.
HARLAND COUNTY CHRISTMAS
Prequel Novella

Fall into Danger of Falling Behind by Donna Michaels

Yes, that’s twice the falling because I seem to be twice as busy anymore. How about you?  I thought they said it gets easier as you get older. Liars. I was mislead. Although I’m blessed to have loyal readers who demand more books, (and believe me, I know I’m blessed) Father Time doesn’t seem to want to cooperate and let me write at a normal pace. Or stop time for just a tinsey bit so I could get caught up. Nope. The past twelve months seem to have been spent speed writing several books.  All I want is a few extra uninterrupted hours in the day. Is that too much to ask? Apparently, and life doesn’t slow down, it only speeds up and keeps things interesting. Between family, and conferences, and promoting, I fall into danger of falling behind in my writing every day.
My four kids are all out of high school now, so I foolishly thought I'd gain more writing time. Ha. Two are in college and don’t drive. So, I’m still chauffeur mom. Well, not to my daughter. She’s away at college, but now we have to drive to the next state to see her or get her to come home for the weekend, which means we have to drive her back two days later. And of course, I’m not the lucky type who can read or write in a moving vehicle. If only. Man, I’d get a ton done. The best I can do is close my eyes (if my husband is driving) and plot. But, as always, my family comes first. Somehow, I manage to take care of them, and my readers, I just wish I could do it at a slower pace.
And I’m sure I’m not the only author with these issues. We should form a club. Sleep-deprived Authors Anonymous. Because, yes, that’s exactly where my writing time comes from. My sleep time. Hello, my name is Donna Michaels, and I’m addicted to writing. J

This month is just as busy. I’m currently at a conference in Phoenix. If you’re in the area on Saturday, please check out the book signing at the Crowne Plaza, and stop on by and say hi. I have some cool swag!

I also have a new release this week. Royally Unleashed.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OE67LIU

My heroine falls into danger…okay, she seeks out danger. Pilar is a paranormal huntress who protects the innocent and is on a mission to find her missing cousin last seen on the island of Pavelonia, just off the Romanian coast. A dangerous, sexy prince hinders her investigation, wrecks havoc with her empathic sense, and harbors a Grim secret she has never come up against.

Plus, the prequel to my Harland County Series—
Harland County Christmas releases December 1 and is now available for Pre-Order!

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of my Inaugural Post, by Donna Michaels

Hello!
Today is my first ever ROP post! I’m honored, and would like to thank all the wonderful ROP authors for including me in this great blog. How appropriate that we’re doing movie themes, because I’m and author/screenwriter, and I love watching movies as much as I love to read and write.
I promise to keep this brief, that is The Good part of my post. Have you ever been to a graduation where the guest speaker just goes on and on? Yeah, no fun. You won’t get that from me. I prefer to sit back and observe. Same goes for my writing. You won’t find a lot of ‘fluff’. I like to get right down to the important stuff and tend to keep my descriptions brief. Not always a good thing, but for me, it works. Sometimes garners me good reviews on pacing.
On to The Bad part of my post. This is where I admit, and apologize, for not reading a lot of ‘fluff’, either. All the hard work an author goes through and I just skim when I get to that part of the book. Yeah, my bad, but something happens in my brain, it kind of fogs over, so in order to keep my interest, I need to move on. This is not the author’s fault. It is all me and my hinky brain. Usually, The Bad in my books is a sexy hero who is too tempting to resist.
You’re probably wondering what is The Ugly part? There actually is no ugly part, at least, not like you think. Every book benefits from Ugly. You need a dark scene, whether it’s caused by an ‘ugly’ character, or an ‘ugly’ moment in a character’s past, or an ‘ugly’ revelation a character has about his or herself. This is the meat of the story. The defining moment, so we embrace the ugly with both hands. Encourage, and unlike the fluff, I don’t hold back. These are all good things, even if they are ugly, and that’s not bad.
You can find The Good, The Bad and The Ugly in all my full length novels, especially in my Harland County Series. Each contemporary western has the GBU, and are hot, humorous and heartwarming to boot! There are currently three books in the series, two of them are on the Kindle Countdown Promotion right now, in celebration of Book Four/Kevin: HER FOREVER COWBOY’s release this coming Tuesday, May 20th!

The countdown started at $1.99 and will work its way back up to $3.99 by Monday!
You can find all my books at my website here:  www.donnamichaelsauthor.com
I had a great time with my first post, and I hope you did, too! I’ll be back June 16th!
Thanks for reading,
~Donna
