We're getting a glimpse of autumn here in the Midwest and it reminds me of all I adore about this season.
For me, autumn and spring are my "re-start" seasons. Those are the times that I dig out lists of things to do and start checking off items.
For this fall: find a publisher; reboot promotion; and keep writing. Sounds simple, but as we all know, it isn't. I was interested to hear about Amazon Encore, and I may give that a try. Plus I have 6 manuscripts that are looking for a home (never published).
It's really a matter of me clearing my schedule for a few days and just focusing on things to get organized. I'm enjoying myself with writing so much that it's hard to do that, but I am hoping to wrap up my first draft of this current book by the middle of October. Then I can take a break, take a deep breath, and do some Business for a change. While my writing is going to well I hate to set it aside.
Of course, I've got a lot of other things clamoring for attention. I have a day job and it's heating up with a lot of deadlines. And I'm assisting in planning a Major Event for next March -- a garden conference that normally has 500-600 attendees, all run by volunteers. Big coordination effort and it's taking up about 10 hours a week of my time.
So I need to clear the decks and focus -- but not soon. For now, I want to write and enjoy that process as much as I can. Business can wait ... right?

Good luck, JL. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you! Can you actually approach Amazon Encore? I thought they were doing the approaching, but I'd be interested in that, as well.
Focus on the writing. That sounds so very sweet. I say go for it, JL. Good luck on the business side of things when you do get to that.
When writing is part of our souls, there are times we need to feed our souls with what it craves--the creativity of the written word. Once you've energized that part of your soul, you'll be energized enough to get down to business. Some are able to do a little of both. To compartmentalize their lives. I can only focus on one thing at a time. Good luck.
You do have a lot going on, JL! Like Vonnie, I seem to have to focus on segments one at a time. I'm glad you've been able to immerse yourself in the joy of writing for a while!
