Share the Love - A New Baby in the House by Brenda Whiteside

As I type, the new baby hasn't exactly shown herself yet. It could be today...or tomorrow...she's very close. I thought it best to type my blog before we all break out in excitement and blogging is the last thing on my mind.

This will be my first grandchild and that is a joy I didn't think I'd ever get to know. Our son said he'd never bring a child into this world but love of the right woman changed that...share the love.

It's been many years since I experienced pregnancy. Wow, have things changed. My daughter-in-law is so knowledgeable about her body and her girl child. "Birthing centers" are a new phenomenon too. For me anyway. I shared a typical hospital room with another woman and Frank went home at the end of the day. For dinner I had a greasy ham and cheese sandwich because the hospital kitchen had closed. My son and his wife will stay, together, in what amounts to a nice hotel room where he'll be able to sleep on a pull out bed. They'll have a nice steak dinner for their first meal. Birthing centers really know how to share the love.

I must be in a baby state of mind. There's a baby expected in my current novel I'm writing - a first for me. Lots of sharing of love in this book. But then that's what romance is about, right? I'm having a little trouble concentrating on the new book with the baby due any moment. It's a sure bet that my daughter-in-law will deliver before my book does.

I can feel your excitement. And, believe me, nothing beats being a grandma. I had a text waiting for me this morning from my 14-year old grandson. "Love you, g-ma." I have no doubt this little girl will grow up being doubly blessed, living with loving parents AND grandparents. Enjoy every sweet second of her arrival.

Thank you, Vonnie. We keep thinking it will be any hour now, but Sadi seems pretty happy right where she is. LOL

Congratulations Brenda! Being a grandma is SUCH a blessing. You're heart is gonna swell so much you'll think it's gonna burst from all the love and happiness. I'll be looking for pictures of your little angel.
:-)

Thanks, Maeve. And you can be guaranteed there will be pictures. I'm a picture fanatic (drive my family crazy)!

Congrats on the upcoming arrival. Treasure each moment. I'm not a grandma yet (I still have a 13 yr old in my house) but two sons 21 and 18. I'm glad your son found the right woman and changed his mind. I still remember when my 3 were newborns. Nothing beats it.

Thanks for dropping by, Anne. I am too and I've never seen him so happy. Now if that little girl would just make her appearance!

I thought my second daughter was going to stay in there forever. Nine days late, they finally induced me. Let's hope your little one makes her appearance soon! So excited for you.

Wishing you nothing but the best! So exciting! It has been so long since mine were little. Can't wait to hear your granddaughter is here!

Hi Jerri and Jannine. She had a real contraction about two hours ago but not another. The tension builds!

What a wonderful time for all of you! enjoy every second and take lots of pictures. Time goes too quickly.

How well I know, Barbara. Wasn't it just yesterday I was in labor?

Oh- congratulations, Brenda!!! How exciting for your family! I know what you mean about the birthing centers though. All of my daughters have experienced that 'hotel room' stay while I was alone more than not with all three of their births. :)

Best wishes for a safe and healthy baby girl! Do they have a name for her yet?

Brenda Whiteside said...

Thank you, Calisa. Yes, her name is Sadi Belle.

Wonderful picture. So clear!
I had a similar experience to yours. It was the middle of a heatwave and they had rubber sheets on the bed! They took the babies away and put them in a nursery all night and for a nap in the afternoon. The first night I spent the entire time convinced they'd taken him away because there was something wrong with him and they didn't want me to know. What a difference these days, eh?

Oh, Jenny, how awful. Yes, so different now.
