Welcome Back to The Roses of Prose!

Hi, I'm Laura Breck, one of the founding members of Roses of Prose. A little history of this lovely blog - we started out in 2009 as five authors with books published by the same small press, and who shared a love of writing that was so strong, we could hardly contain it.

Another charter member, Amber Leigh Williams, is still a member of the blog, and now we've added a dozen new roses whose talent and passion are inspirational. I get goosebumps from all the excitement and synergy created by this fabulous group of authors. I can't wait to see what's going to happen next!

Although I lived in Las Vegas for three years, I now live in Minnesota with my family. I enjoy cycling, snorkeling, and long walks with my husband. (Yes, after all these years, I still enjoy my husband!) I'm a stay-at-home writer, but I do short spurts of contract work as a project manager - a profession which uses the exact same skills necessary to manage a book release campaign.

My first book signing! (Notice all the chocolate?)

I'm a member of Romance Writers of America, Midwest Fiction Writers, and Wisconsin Romance Writers of America. I love to talk as much as I love to write, and I'm a member of RWA's Speaker's Bureau, which allows me to travel the USA providing workshops at writers' conferences. This October, I'll be in Seattle for the Emerald City Writers' Conference, and I hope to see a few of you there.

I write a traditional romance, but very, very spicy. And very looooong, too! Over 400 pages. My first book, Secret Vegas Lives, was released in 2009, and the second book in the series, Scandalous LA Desires, is coming soon - I'm actually working on edits right now.

Thank you for joining us, and I hope you'll love the new format of The Roses of Prose as much as I do.

All my best,
Laura

Hi Laura,
You have lived in Las Vegas, lucky you. My husband and I went there last year and we absolutely loved it. Would like to go again, but it is a long way from Australia, so I don't think we will be able to make it again any time soon.

Regards

Margaret

Thanks for the history lesson. And a nice introduction. I lived in Las Vegas but only for 3 months. We even bought a house. I got such a good job offer in Phoenix we moved back. We had fun in Vegas and I think more company in those 3 months than anywhere else we've lived! We qualified as a free hotel.

I've visited Las Vegas. Does that count? You've done an amazing job putting all this together. I'm so glad I got to meet you in person In Salem back in April. Held a wonderful workshop

Nice to learn more about you, Laura, and thank you for all the hard work you've put into the new, revitalised Roses of prose :-) Your spicy romances sound wonderful! Never been to Vegas, but plan to visit relatives near San Francisco - does that count? Ok,yes, I failed geography in high school....

Thanks for the great comments, everyone. I think we need to plan an annual Roses of Prose gathering in Las Vegas! Authors and readers and cover models and... What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!

Hi Laura,
Thank you so much for all your work coordinating the blog, and I'm so envious that you're now a stay-at-home writer. Maybe some day (sigh). I've never been to Los Vegas, but I've flown over it - does that count?

Nice to meet you, Laura. I haven't made it to Vegas yet. I'll have to pick up your books and do a little armchair traveling!

Soooo happy you revamped the Roses of Prose to include us, Laura! I've passed through Vegas a couple of times, but our vacations tend to gravitate toward the coast. Your book covers are striking. Best of luck with those edits!
