By the time my daughter was born, OG's mother had long since given up the idea of being a grandmother (he was 37 at the time). She was over the moon but in fragile health from chronic lung disease. My daughter only had a few short years with Grandma, but they were best buddies. Like your mother, Grandma couldn't play vigorously, but those two sat together on the sofa making up and acting out the most fantastic stories!
