Happy Mothers Day from Laura Breck

Laura Breck

Don’t you just love Mothers Day? A chance for the kids to make you breakfast, the hubby to clean the kitchen after they finish, and a valid reason to be lazy – very lazy – all day?

My lazy day includes a four-hour “alone time” for me to rewrite a story I’d published with a small press that recently closed. I’m going to self-publish it, and I’ve very excited.

The original name of the book was Secret Vegas Lives, and here’s the book blurb:

Antonio Daniato is a best-selling novelist, but he hides an addiction to a decadent nightlife. When he receives a letter demanding money in exchange for keeping his secret, he sets a trap to catch the blackmailer and is surprised when beautiful psychologist Valerie Kane falls into his arms.

Terrified, Valerie swears she’s not the blackmailer, but refuses to disclose the reason she’s there. Antonio already knows her secret, and he’s captivated by her integrity, and shaken by the force of his desire for her. He schemes his way into her life, intent on seduction.

Valerie’s sheltered past did not prepare her for a man like Antonio, and she can’t resist the temptation. Despite their mutual distrust, they surrender to intense attraction, and she finds herself falling for the Harley-riding bad boy. When Antonio’s desire for Valerie becomes something deeper, he fears her reaction if she ever discovered his secret life. But that life—it’s something he can’t stop.

Seeing him struggle to break free from his secret addiction, Valerie risks her reputation and her family’s approval to help him, but he will not confide in her. When she stumbles onto Antonio’s decadent secret, she must choose to let him go, or fight for him against an obsession that may be stronger than their love.

****
Rereading the book, I remember why I loved this story so much. Antonio is a troubled soul, Valerie is a woman trying to find her own way in the world, despite her family’s interference. And it’s big, long one! Over 100,000 words, which is 400 pages in paperback. There are secondary characters who get their own romance, and even a hint of the hero in the next book in the series, Antonio’s brother, Dante.

I’m thrilled to be able to resurrect this book, and I’m hoping to have it published by the end of the month. Watch for more about Secret Vegas Lives!

Have a lovely Mother’s Day!
